FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fourth World Releases WebMerge for OS X,
Offers New Group License Options
LOS ANGELES, California – 28 January, 2002 Fourth World today released
WebMerge 1.9.2, a tool for Mac OS and Windows which generates static Web
pages from database files. This new version is the company’s first product
release specifically for OS X, and offers enhanced performance and a few
minor bug fixes for both platforms. Fourth World is also offering new
“workgroup pricing” discounts for multi-license purchases.
WebMerge 1.9.2 can work with any database that exports in Merge or
tab-delimited format, including FileMaker Pro and Microsoft Access. The
user creates a template HTML page with simple place holder tags, and
WebMerge creates a new HTML page from the data in each record of the
exported Merge file. WebMerge can also create an index page with links to
each of the generated pages. Generated pages can be hosted on any Web
server without the need for a specialized database hosting solution.
“Our Mac customers have expressed a tremendous interest in OS X, so we
stepped up our efforts to deliver this Carbon port,” said Richard Gaskin,
President of Fourth World Media Corporation. “OS X’s enhanced integration
with Windows compliments WebMerge’s role in helping to automate Web
production in mixed workgroups. Our new workgroup pricing reinforces that
role, allowing organizations to get five or ten licenses at a time with
steep discounts so they can easily share WebMerge across their production
New licensing options are:
Single User license: US$69
Small Workgroun Package (5 licenses): US$195
Large Workgroup Package (10 licenses): US$295
Mac OS: System 8.0 or later, 32 MB total memory, 5 MB disk space, both 68k
and PPC are supported.
Windows: Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME, 32 MB total memory, 5 MB disk space.
Fourth World WebMerge 1.9.2 is available immediately at the publisher’s Web
site: (http://www.fourthworld.com/products/webmerge/). A free trial version
for each platform can be downloaded from the site. The trial version will
generate only 20 pages from a given set of records. Paying the registration
fee allows WebMerge to generate an unlimited number of HTML files.
Registered users of any earlier version of WebMerge can upgrade to the new
version for free, using their existing registration code.
