British reseller offers free RAM with new Apple Models

Mygate, a Macintosh reseller in the UK, informed us they are offering PowerMac G4/733 SuperDrive models for £2499 with an extra 256MB RAM pre-installed free of charge. In addition, the company is including 128MB RAM pre-installed free with Titanium 400 or 500MHz PowerBooks for £1899 GBP + VAT and £2499 + VAT respectively. Finally, Apple’s new iBook (the entry-level model) is £935 + VAT with an extra 64MB RAM installed.

Apple products up for UK awards

Apple’s Cube, Pro Speakers and Pro Mouse are up for an award from the British Design and Art Direction. Winners will be announced on May 30, 2001 in a ceremony at Earls Court 2. Last year Apple won gold for their Cinema Display.

Addresses quickly running out on the Web

Internet analysts are saying the Web will run out of IP addresses by the year 2005 if a new standard is not adopted soon. Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is already in place in Europe and Asia, but the current technology in North America — Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) — will only hold 4 billion addresses and is fast running out of space.
