MacExpo, an independent Mac tradeshow, will take place November 22-24 at London’s Business Design Centre, reports Macworld UK. The event’s promoters have already confirmed several exhibitors, including: Macromedia, Quark, Epson, Hermstedt, Iomega, and OKI Systems.

Palm will ship the most handhelds during the second calendar quarter of this year, but will come in second behind Compaq in revenue, according to a new report from Gartner Dataquest. The research firm expects Palm to ship around 700,000 units worldwide, generating between US$130 million and $135 million. In contrast, Compaq is expected to ship about 500,000 of its PocketPC-based iPaq handhelds, generating about $200 million in revenue. Two quarters ago, Palm generated more than $500 million from handheld sales.

Macromedia has posted a 30-day trial of Freehand 10 — as noted by MacNN — the latest version of the company’s graphics illustration software. Among Freehand 10’s features is OS X compatibility (Carbon). The full version of the software sells for US$399.

Apple UK has launched promotion that gives iMac purchasers six months of interest free financing, similar to the US “Music to your ears” promotion, notes Macworld UK. UK customers, however, do not have the option of receiving a free Rio 600 in place of the financing deal. The offer expires July 31.

MacGeneration, an excellent French Mac site out of Lausanne, Switzerland, has conducted a poll showing that 70 percent of French speaking Mac users would like to have an Apple retail store in their region. Additionally, 18 percent said that they were happy with their existing Apple authorized reseller, while 5 percent responded that they were using the Web or mail order to make their Mac purchases.
