MacHack conference kicks off 72 hours of developer fun
The 16th annual MacHack kicked off today at midnight CDT in Dearborn, MI. The conference, which runs for 72 consecutive hours, challenges software developers to program the most interesting piece of software — or hack to another piece of software — that they can during that time. MacHack also provides a forum for attendees to gather and chat, as well offering multiple keynotes from prominent members of the development community.

SmartDisk today introduced a new line of USB flash media readers, available for CompactFlash, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, and Secure Digital/Multimedia Card formats. Each flash reader includes a one meter detachable cable for convenience, sits vertically for easy loading and ejecting, and carries a price of US$39.95. The readers will ship in July, with the exception of the Secure Digital/Multimedia card reader which will ship later this year.

Blizzard today announced that the highly anticipated Lord of Destruction expansion pack for Diablo II will be released on June 29. The expansion pack adds two new character classes to the game, the Assassin and the Druid, a new act with six new quests, and thousands of new items. The expansion pack will ship in nine languages for about US$35.
