Apple has posted a GeForce Graphics 2.1.1, an update to the drivers for Power Mac G4’s equipped with an nVIDIA graphics card. The update corrects some outstanding issues with nVIDIA cards, including a bug that could cause the screen’s image to be shifted to one side of the display. The update is also available via Software Update.

Apple today announced that it will be abandonding the Power Mac G4 Cube”indefinitely.” Despite rave reviews and an attractive enclosure, the Cube never lived up to sales expectations. “Cube owners love their Cubes, but most customers decided to buy our powerful Power Mac G4 minitowers instead,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

Fidelity Media has posted MegaSeg Pro 2.0.1, an update to its audio mixing application for DJs who spin CDs/MP3s. The update corrects a handful of bugs and adds small features, such as a recently played songs report. MegaSeg 2 sells for US$149.

MacGIMP has begun shipping the MacGIMP CD, which provides a one-click installation procedure for getting the open-source image manipulation program up and running under OS X. The CD is available for US$24.95, although the site is honoring $19.95 pre-orders through today.

In a somewhat curious report, Alyssa Jaffey of IdeaAdvisory says that Apple’s introduction of AppleWorks 6.2 yesterday will not have a significant impact on the company’s bottom line — not particularly surprising given the software’s low price point and the free upgrade for current 6.x owners. Additionally, Jaffey says she wouldn’t be surprised to see Apple miss this quarter’s numbers when it reports earnings on July 17, and furthermore, wouldn’t be surprised to see Apple make further downward revisions to its future outlook.
