ZDNetNews is the latest media outlet to publish a glowing review of Apple’s new iBook, calling the 4.9 lbs. laptop “better than the TiBook.” The review, as noted by MacSurfer, also states that the iBook is “the first Apple system in a long time that hasn’t immediately evoked the need to wait for Rev B.”

Metrowerks CodeWarrior Pro 6.3, as noted by VersionTracker, is a maintenance update to the development environment. The update consists of a new PPC Plugin Compiler, and requires CodeWarrior 6.2.

An article in the Commercial Times of Taiwan notes that the country’s shipments of CD-RW drives are expected to come in at 10.6 million this year, with shipments expected to rise to 62 million drives in 2002. Lite-On Technology Corp., one of the country’s major CD-RW producers, says it will ship five million drives this year thanks in large part due to contracts with Apple and Gateway. Apple is currently using Sony CD-RW drives in its PowerMac G4s.
