Court ruling gives Excite@Home life—until February

A bankruptcy court judge has approved US$355 million in contracts between high-speed Internet provider Excite@Home and its cable partners, including Cox Communications, Comcast, Mediacom and others, according to ZDNet. The ruling is seen as a win for all parties involved, providing a much needed cash infusion to keep Excite@Home afloat while customers are moved in a more seamless fashion to new cable networks being established by the cable companies.

PowerBook G4 picked as “Executive Gift”

Apple’s PowerBook G4 is one of five laptops Forbes.com has selected for its “Executive Gifts” list. “Apple Computer may constitute only a small piece of the worldwide PC market, but it’s still turning out machines that often point the way that the rest of the industry follows down the road.” The article incorrectly says the DVD drive is optional—the DVD drive is standard, a CD-RW drive in place of the DVD is optional.
