Lexar Media today introduced its new 12x High Speed Series CompactFlash Type I digital film cards, which feature sustained write speeds of 1.8MB/sec that significantly reduces the time for a high megapixel digital camera to write an image to the card. The new media is available in capacities from 64MB (US$50) to 256MB ($230).

Keyspan has released the final version of its Mac OS X driver for its family of serial adapters, including the USB Twin Serial Adapter, USB PDA Adapter, USB High Speed Serial Adapter, and USB Serial Port Adapter. Finished Mac OS X drivers for some of the company’s other products, including its Digital Media Remote, are expected by the end of the year.

The Mac EvangeList, best known for its long-time e-mail list for Mac users, has announced that it plans to open a Mac-only internet service provider by the end of the year. MacEvangeList.net will offer both dial-up and DSL services, according to service organizers, and will focus on business hosting solutions.

IGN has published a fair and in-depth review of Apple’s iPod, awarding it high marks overall, but pointing out that the device lacks an equalizer, FM tuner, voice recording, and other features that some competing products offer.

FileMaker is offering a US$100 mail-in rebate to users that purchase FileMaker Pro 5.5 ($249.95) and Microsoft Office v.X ($499.95) through March 15, 2002. In addition, the company has introduced a $1,999 Volume License Agreement package for 10 seats of FileMaker Pro 5.5 and one unit of FileMaker Server 5.5. That offer is good until December 14, 2001.
