Hewlett Packard has posted new Mac OS X drivers for its HP DeskJet 800, 900, 1125, 1200, cp1160, and cp1700 printers. DeskJet 1.2 fixes a number of outstanding bugs and expands hardware support.

Pixar, the animation studio headed by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, has posted many of its animated “shorts” on its Web site in QuickTime format, as noted by Slashdot. The animation studio is celebrating the launch of Monsters, Inc. today, which stars Billy Crystal, John Goodman, James Coburn, Steve Buscemi, and more.

Fortune.com has posted a brief interview with Apple CEO Steve Jobs, which focuses on the iPod. The interview begins by asking Jobs why the company decided to do an MP3 player rather than a PDA, to which Jobs replies, “How useful are they [Palms], really?”

VersionTracker notes the release of iCab Preview 2.6, a new version of the alternative Web browser for Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X. Version 2.6 adds additional options for secure Web connections, a small JavaScript debugger, support for the QuickTime plug-in on Mac OS X, and a number of additional improvements on Mac OS X.
