After posting — and then removing — iTunes 2 for Mac OS X earlier today, Apple has made available iTunes 2.0.1 for Mac OS X. The new version corrects a bug that could erase the files on a user’s drive under Mac OS X in some cases when mutliple drives or partitions were mounted. Some readers, as well as a MacMinute associate, experienced this problem. While a warning regarding iTunes 2.0 for Mac OS X now accompanies the iTunes download page, Apple has made no mention as to whether data recovery will be possible or not. The issue does not affect iTunes 2 for Mac OS 9.
