Apple has reported earnings for its fiscal fourth quarter of $66 million ($65 million after one-time gains), or 19 cents per share, edging analyst estimates of 16 cents per share. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.45 billion, which compares with an estimate of $1.5 billion. During the quarter, Apple shipped 850,000 Macs, and the company announced that iBook education sales tripled during the quarter. For the fiscal year, Apple reported a net loss of $25 million on revenues of $5.36 billion; down sharply from the previous year, when the company posted a profit of $786 million on $7.98 billion of revenue. Shares of Apple closed down a little more than a dollar to end the day at $16.99 ahead of the earnings news. Apple’s conference call begins at 17:00 ET and will be Webcast.
