Intel today demonstrated a new technology called “hyperthreading” that takes advantage of unused circuitry in the Pentium 4, making a single processor appear as two and boosting performance by as much as 30 percent. The technology isn’t expected to be ready until 2002 or 2003, however. Intel also demonstrated a 3.5GHz Pentium 4, which managed to run four games of Quake 3 at the same time without a hitch.
