On May 29th we reported on an article in the Linux-Mandrake Community Newsletter announcing Mandrake 8.0, a pre-configured graphical Linux operating system, would soon be available to run on your Mac. Well that beta has arrived and is available for download now. The Linux-Mandrake Web site states that “LM8.0/PPC has been… found to work OK on various PPC hardware including “Titanium” power books (G4 400, 500), iBooks (tested on all models except 2001), and iMacDV.” There are a few known problems with this release — it is beta software afterall — but further information is available from the site.
