SANTA CLARA, Calif. – January 12, 2000 – FileMaker, Inc. announced the
immediate availability of FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited (Worldwide English
version), enabling powerful FileMaker Pro 5 web-based database publishing
to tens of thousands of users over the intranet and Internet.

FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited takes database Web publishing and Web browser
access to FileMaker Pro databases to the next step in both ease of use and
simplicity. Requiring no expensive and difficult to administer client
access licensing fees, FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited is priced at $999 (U.S
suggested retail price).

“FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited now widens the scope of database Web publishing
available for FileMaker Pro users,” said FileMaker, Inc. president
Dominique Goupil. “Our users now have unprecedented breakthrough power and
performance in one affordable software solution that retains the legendary
ease of use of FileMaker Pro.”

Two powerful options for publishing dynamic web databases to web: FileMaker
Pro Web Companion and new Java-based Web Server Connector for improved
performance, load balancing and data security

In addition to a fully working version of the acclaimed FileMaker Pro 5,
which supports CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), rendering FileMaker Pro
layouts with high fidelity to the Web, FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited also
offers two Web serving options to suit a wide range of performance and
security requirements. For corporate-based intranets with low traffic
volume to FileMaker Pro Web enabled databases, the Web server built into
FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited, called the Web Companion, provides the necessary
performance. For higher-volume applications, such as a small Internet
e-commerce site or an HR intranet application for a global company,
FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited can leverage popular Web servers via the included
FileMaker Web Server Connector.

FileMaker Web Server Connector, an easy-to-use Java servlet that relays
requests from powerful Web servers to one or more computers running
FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited, can be easily integrated with the following
leading Web Server software applications: Microsoft Internet Information
Server (IIS) 4.0; Microsoft Personal Web Server (PWS) 4.0; Netscape
Enterprise Server 3.62; Web Star 4.0; AppleShare IP 6.2, and Apache Web
server (built into Mac OS X Server). Using the FileMaker Web Server
Connector, users can leverage the security, performance and SSL (Secure
Socket Layer) built in to leading Web Server applications for handling a
wide variety fast, secure transactions.
