*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ***

San Jose, CA – PhilSoft, Inc. today announced that it is now shipping a
FireWire Mass Storage Driver for Macintosh computers.

Called FireUtils 1.0, the driver is a small, fast, stable solution for
FireWire hard drive vendors. FireUtils is a generic or ‘class’ driver that
works with all fixed FireWire hard disks for Macintosh. Rather than having
to have one driver for each different vendor’s device, FireUtils can
control all fixed FireWire hard drives currently on the market. This
solution simplifies driver installation, configuration, and maintenance.

“Many of the drivers that are currently shipping with FireWire hard drives
for Macintosh are unstable, or not as fast as they should be”, said Scott
Phillips, CEO of PhilSoft, Inc. “Many people have also noticed that many of
the drivers currently shipping are not true, dynamically loadable drivers,
but rather are static System Extensions which don’t comply with Apple’s
dynamically loadable driver architecture”, Phillips said. “Our driver
solves all these problems”.
