NETPROFESSIONAL AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AT MACWORLD EXPO
-- Professional Journal for Web Developers and Network Administrators
Invites reader contributions with "War Stories," "From the Trenches"

NEW YORK CITY -- July 8, 1998 -- Xplain Corporation, publishers of
NetProfessional(tm) magazine, here at Macworld Expo/New York released the
July/August issue of the magazine, the first since the company acquired
publishing rights to the title in March. The print magazine, for web
developers and network administrators, is now a technical journal packed
with in-depth articles on a variety of current challenges users face,
peer-reviewed by experts in the field, and with active participation in the
community.

The NEW NetProfessional presents high-level, professional, technical,
journal-style content. The first issue, as well as those that will follow,
features how-to articles, detailed product reviews, as well as the high
quality editorial content that MacTech Magazine (also published by Xplain)
has built its reputation upon.

A unique feature of NetProfessional magazine is its involvement with the
Web developer and network administrator community. This involvement, and
reader contributions, are especially visible in three columns appearing for
the first time in the new NetProfessional:

"From The Trenches": Network administrator Chuq von Rospach of Plaidworks
Consulting, who runs Apple's mailing lists and related sites, writes in
every issue about real-world network administrator experiences, and shares
solutions with NetProfessional readers. In the July/August issue, Chuq
describes his experiences creating web-based surveys and shows how readers
can do it on their own sites using Maxum's NetCloak server-side macro tool
on a Mac Webserver -- with "cloaked" HTML source code provided. He invites
requests for future topics to address at (mailto:trenches@netprolive.com).

"War Stories": NetProfessional is actively soliciting real-world reports
from network administrators and web developers of problems they've
encountered in their work. By sharing your trials and tribulations, your
successes and solutions, you can show off in front of your peers and help
the community. Send submissions to (mailto:war_stories@netprolive.com).

NetProLive: NetProfessional online editor Todd Stauffer profiles community
resources for web developers and network administrators in every issue. In
the NEW July/August issue, the column reveals mailing lists of interest to
network administrators. Further online resources are linked on an ongoing
basis from the NetProLive website, (http://www.netprolive.com).

KoolTools: NetProfessional's own web developers and network administrators
share their experiences in this regular feature, highlighting valuable
hardware and software products that they have found especially useful in
their work. They welcome suggestions from NetProfessional readers on the
tools that have made a difference in their work. Send your nominations to:
(mailto:kooltools@netprolive.com). (Sorry, messages from PR people or
publishers should not be sent here.)

The July/August issue also features:

- Search Tools for Mac Web Sites
- Getting Started with XML
- Getting Started: Claris Home Page Assistants
- Mac IMAP/LDAP Server Tools
- The Cross-platform Web Site
- Migrating from AppleTalk to TCP/IP
- NetReviews: Eudora Internet Mail Server, WebSiphon, Web Crossing
- Apple's Net Future

For details on these articles visit (http://www.netprolive.com). Note that
most articles will NOT be available on the NetProLive website -- only
readers of NetProfessional magazine will have access to this great
information.
