Apple shipping dual 1.42 GHz Power Mac G4

Apple’s Web site has been updated with a graphic stating that the dual 1.42 GHz Power Mac G4 is “now shipping.” The high-end Power Mac (US$2,699), which was announced in January along with two others, is based on Apple’s Xserve architecture, including up to 2MB of Double Data Rate (DDR) Level 3 cache and 333 MHz DDR memory, and symmetric multiprocessing capabilities delivering 21 gigaflops (21 billion floating point operations per second) of performance.
