Marathon intros G5 Vertical Rackmount add-on

Marathon Computer today announced the G5 SideKick, which works with the company’s G5 Vertical Rackmount to turn the 7-inch space alongside the G5 into usable rackspace. “What we did was we designed a set of adapter plates that attach to the front of the G5 Vertical deck, and to the rack rails above it,” said Marathon spokesman David Soch. “That gives the user 4U of standard 19-inch rackspace — turned sideways — alongside a G5, supported at top and bottom.

Marathon announces 12U rack cabinet

Marathon Computer has announced a new 12U enclosed equipment rack, suitable for office workgroup or machine room. The US$699 rack cabinet uses adjustable-depth support rails and is deep enough for Apple’s Xserve. Marathon says the cabinet is short enough to fit under most countertops, yet still allows two Power Mac G5s to fit standing upright. Other features include a smoked glass front door, flow-through ventilation (top & bottom and front & back) and removable bottom panels for cable management.

Marathon ships G5 RackMount

Marathon Computer has announced it is shipping its vertical rack mounting solution for Apple’s Power Mac G5. The company’s G5 RackMount, which is made of heavy-duty aircraft aluminum and steel, is vertical rackmount solution allows two G5s to be rackmounted upright without any modification of its case. Specially-shaped clamps, contoured to fit the G5’s handles, hold the machine at front and rear on a rigid, reinforced rackmount deck.

Marathon Computer has announced its first desk mounting solution for Apple’s Power Mac G5. The company’s DeskMount for G5 is made of heavy-duty aircraft-grade aluminum and attaches a Power Mac G5 to the underside of your desk or work surface. The entire surface of the G5 DeskMount is coated with a tough, resilient material designed to prevent scratches and dings, while at the same time preventing vibration from being transmitted between desk and computer. DeskMount for G5 also features a built-in cable management system.

Marathon adds wallmounts for 20, 23″ Cinema Displays

Marathon Computer expanded its lineup of mounting solutions today with the addition of wallmounts for Apple’s 20″ and 23″ Cinema Displays. The steel and brushed aluminum wallmounts serve double duty as rackmounts for standard 19″ equipment racks. “Mounting is very sturdy and stable, with the weight of the display resting in a cushioned saddle. Installation is quick and easy, following the illustrated instructions, and is completely revertible, to quickly return the display to desktop operation.” The wallmounts are priced at US$125.

Marathon Computer has announced the RePorter, a new port replicator for Mac desktops. The RePorter is a compact extension, through a single cable, of the FireWire, USB and audio ports usually located on the backplane of a desktop Macintosh. “Rather than add size or mass to the design so that it will stay put on your desk, Marathon has chosen a more elegant approach. The design of the RePorter begs to be picked up and cradled in your hand.

Vert-X floor stand for Xserve announced

Marathon Computer has introduced the Vert-X (US$40) floor stand, an alternative to rackmounting Apple’s Xserve. “Just turn your Xserve sideways and slip it between the Vert-X’s uprights, and voilà!” Vert-X features molded, black satin-finish, high-impact plastic, an interlocking design to work with multiple Xserves, and modular measurement for use with all standard 1U equipment.
