Motorola reports fourth consecutive loss

Motorola, which developes the PowerPC G4 used in Apple systems, today reported a fourth-quarter operating loss of US$90 million, compared to a profit of $362 million in the year-ago quarter. Including one-time charges, the company posted a $1.2 billion loss for the quarter, mostly due to restructuring costs. Revenue for the quarter dipped 25 percent from the year-ago period to $7.3 billion.
