The iOS 6 beta 4 ditches the YouTube application that has existed on iOS since the first version in 2007, according to various reports.

“9to5Mac” (www.9to5Mac.com) says: “We’re not entirely sure what to make of this, but this could have to do with Apple trying to break away from dependence on Google services. iOS 6 drops Google Maps in favor of Apple’s own 3D Maps program.”

ComScore: Apple has 32.4% of U.S. smartphone market

ComScore (http://www.comscore.com), which “measures the digital world,” has released data from the comScore MobiLens service, reporting key trends in the U.S. mobile phone industry during the three-month average period ending June 2012.

The study surveyed more than 30,000 U.S. mobile subscribers and found Samsung to be the top handset manufacturer overall with 25.6% market share. Google Android continued to grow its share in the U.S. smartphone market, accounting for 51.6% of smartphone subscribers, while Apple captured 32.4%.
