Epson previews the WorkForce DS-40

Epson has announced the WorkForce DS-40, its first wireless, portable document scanner. Weighing just over a pound, it supports scanning directly to a Mac, PC or mobile devices, as well as offering scan-to-cloud capabilities.

Regarding the latter, the WorkForce DS-40 can scan to GoogleDrive, Evernote, OneNote, and more. Since it’s powered by a battery or USB source, you can take the scanner on the road.

Research and Markets: Augmented reality market poised for explosive growth

The news is full of stories concerning augmented reality; mostly in the context of the Google Glass project. Google glasses have been banned from bars, casinos, locker rooms, healthcare facilities and many government agencies.

The fear is that, armed with a forward facing camera, the devices will compromise peoples’ privacy and perhaps disclose confidential information. The dynamic is definitely one of concerned skepticism.

WinZip introduces WinZip Mac 3

WinZip has introduced WinZip Mac 3, a file sharing app that lets you manage, protect, and share files across email and the cloud. It offers direct support for Dropbox and Google Drive, file protection, and a Zip engine.

WinZip Mac 3 is available at the Mac App Store and directly from WinZip (www.winzip.com/mac). It requires Mac OS X 10. 7 or higher and costs US$29.99.
