Google has added support for Apple’s Safari Web browser to Gmail, its new e-mail service that offers 1GB of storage. Gmail, which is still in beta testing, also currently supports Mac versions of Netscape 7.1 or higher, Mozilla 1.4 or higher and Mozilla Firefox 0.8 or higher.

Google President and Co-Founder Sergey Brin told The Wall Street Journal in an interview (paid subscription required) that the company is considering making changes to its recently announced Gmail email service amid privacy concerns. The service, which is still in beta testing, offers 1GB of free email storage and was to insert targeted advertising into user’s messages.
