Google’s partial unveiling yesterday of its content partners and strategy for Google TV provided insight into the company’s television strategy. According to Paul Erickson, Senior Analyst at IMS Research (http://www.imsresearch.com), the capabilities and product reach of Google TV may make another high-profile over-the-top (OTT) video play, Apple TV, largely irrelevant to consumers over time.

A group of Tulsa investors have launched AskMeTellMe, a national iPhone application born out of frustrations with Google and other Internet search engines. The new app, which is driven by each user’s individual social network, brings the human element back to decision making in today’s internet-dominated world, according to its developers.

“Who are you going to trust to find a good babysitter — Google or your friends?” says Toby Biolchini, who along with several other Tulsans created the iPhone app that’s free online at the Apple App Store.

In February, there was some speculation about Microsoft having a very good chance at landing a deal with Apple to make Bing become its default search engine for the iPhone. However, Google will apparently remain the default search engine for now.

French newspaper “Le Figaro” — as noted by “Mobile Business Briefs” (http://www.mobilebusinessbriefing.com/article/orange-t-mobile-telefonica-vodafone-set-for-handset-os-talks) — reports that Stephane Richard CEO of France Telecom-Orange, has invited the heads of Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica and Vodafone to discuss the possible creation of a common platform for mobile devices.
