- 11:52 amYou may have missed your chance to buy Apple’s weirdest accessory
The iPhone Pocket is probably unchallenged as the weirdest accessory the company has ever sold, beating out the iPod sock. But if you were, for some reason, planning to buy one, you may now have missed your chance … more…11:30 am9 essential iPad accessories to unleash your Apple tablet’s full powers
Macworld Apple dominates the tablet market with the iPad, which is the trendiest and, arguably, the most reliable. The company actively develops four main variants of the product with different sizes, specs, and price tags. While iPads on their own are generally capable, their vanilla form factor can be quite limiting. Fortunately, all iPad models are equipped with a USB-C port and Bluetooth connectivity, letting you easily pair wired and wireless peripherals. Whether you’re using your iPad for work, entertainment, gaming, or something else, you may want to make it more functional with some of these essential accessories. Foundry Stylus Tablets and stylii go hand in hand. Even if you’re not a professional illustrator, a stylus can simplify certain tasks—like taking handwritten notes or doodling casually. And with newer iPadOS versions now recognizing and polishing handwritten text, using a stylus to jot down your thoughts has become even more practical. Similarly, Apple Intelligence can transform your basic scribbles to neat images that better reflect the ideas you have in mind. While the Apple Pencil (USB-C) (on sale for $69) and Apple Pencil Pro (on sale for $99) offer the tightest ecosystem integrations with your iPad, there are plenty of other solid stylus options out there. The Logitech Crayon (on sale for $53) is a reliable pick featuring a sleek design, high precision, a more affordable price, instant connectivity, and more. Mouse With iPadOS 26, Apple redesigned the built-in cursor, putting it on par with that of desktop operating systems. Thanks to its new arrow shape, you can now click smaller buttons more comfortably, even if the touch targets aren’t too wide. To unlock the iPad’s cursor, you’ll first need to pair a compatible mouse or trackpad. The Logitech MX Master 4 is one of the best mice out there, offering an ergonomic design, quiet buttons, and support for a wide range of devices. If you value aesthetics more than practicality, Apple’s Magic Mouse should also work with your iPad flawlessly. Keyboard As an iPad user, you’re probably familiar with how large and unintuitive the software keyboard can be, blocking a significant portion of the screen. What many users don’t know, however, is that you can hide it by connecting a physical keyboard to your iPad. This lets you take full advantage of the tablet’s display. Apple sells different Magic Keyboard and Keyboard Folio variants designed for specific iPad models. Not only do these double as a protective cover, but they also offer an embedded trackpad. If you’re on a budget, you can opt for a third-party brand, like the Belkin Pro Keyboard Case. Foundry Game controller The iPad Air and iPad Pro now pack Apple’s M-series chips, initially designed for the Mac. At this point, they’re capable of running AAA games, such as Resident Evil and Grand Theft Auto. While most iPadOS games offer touch controls, they can be unintuitive for complex gameplay. iPadOS fully supports certain game controllers, letting you pair and customize them with ease. Sony’s DualSense Controller and Microsoft’s Xbox Controller are two dependable options approved by Apple. If you’re not looking to spend around 70 bucks on a controller, you could opt for any cheaper MFi-certified brand instead. Foundry USB-C hub All iPad models are now limited to a single USB-C port. Consequently, you can’t charge your iPad while using a wired accessory simultaneously. Thankfully, iPadOS supports USB hubs and dongles, letting you add more ports and slots as needed. The manufacturers and port assortments are plentiful, however, so you’ll have to hunt for a variant that caters to your needs. Some of the reputable options include Anker, Belkin, Ugreen, and even Amazon Basics. Headphones Now that iPads no longer offer a headphone jack, opting for wireless earbuds is the most convenient route. The AirPods and Beats lines come with varying features, build qualities, and price points, and they all work seamlessly with iPadOS. Some of their perks include effortless firmware updates, instant pairing, automatic device switching, Spatial Audio support, and more. Otherwise, you’ve got plenty of excellent third-party options, such as the Sony WH-1000XM6 Headphones and Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds 2nd Gen. Foundry External storage While iPads can accommodate up to 2TB of internal storage, some creatives’ needs extend beyond that limit. Luckily, you can connect both basic flash drives and larger SSDs using the USB-C port. SanDisk and Samsung offer external storage devices that are fully compatible with iPadOS and its built-in Files app. This allows you to quickly offload large files or transfer them to your desktop computer. Stand As we’ve established, iPads are great for gaming and media consumption. Needing to hold your tablet at all times, however, can get tiresome and downgrade your experience. A stand can fix that once and for all. Amazon Basics sells a budget-friendly iPad stand that supports multiple viewing angles. If you’ve got a larger iPad model or want more than the bare minimum, you could go for Ugreen’s higher-end iPad stand (on sale for $15), which comes with a sturdier build, rotating mechanism, and folds up for compact storage. You’ll want to ensure that your iPad’s dimensions are compatible with the chosen stand, however. Travel bag Last, you may want to invest in a travel bag or sleeve for when you take your iPad to school, the office, or a café. Given the tablet’s delicate nature, carrying it outdoors without protection can be risky. Luckily, you’ve got plenty of options, with some brands offering minimalist sleeves and others going for larger bags with extra pockets for the charger and other accessories. You may want to check out the Tomtoc Tablet Sleeves, Tomtoc Shoulder Bags, and MoKo Carrying Cases to find the color, material, layout, and size that fit your needs.11:25 amBest Black Friday 2025 MacBook, iMac, and Mac mini deals

If we spot any, we’ll cover them in our guide to the best Black Friday Apple deals. Black Friday 2025: Top shopping tips We tend to find that the biggest savings are on older models, but be aware that these aren’t always the best value for money. Check the generation of the model that is discounted to make sure you know exactly what you are buying and what it’s really worth. We’ve seen resellers switch to selling refurbished or used when the stock of brand-new models run out, so check that the model discounted isn’t actually a used Mac and therefore not as good a deal as it might look. That’s not to say you should avoid refurb models; you just need to make sure that you aren’t buying something used when you want a new model. Mac deals aren’t limited to Black Friday. We see good deals all year round, so don’t feel pressured into buying during Black Friday. How to get the best MacBook deals for Black Friday 2025: Our advice Foundry Apple updated nearly all of its MacBook models in 2025, and we expect to see all-time-low pricing on many models and configurations. M4 MacBook Air: released this past March with a $100 price cut. The base model is $999 and can be found for $750/£849 during Black Friday week. M4 Pro/Max MacBook Pro: released in 2024 and are still excellent machines. Worth the investment when it’s $300/£250 or more off. M5 MacBook Pro: released in October, but we are already seeing discounts of $200 and £200. For more information about the differences and which MacBook might be best for you, read How the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro compare. How to get the best Mac deals for Black Friday 2025: Our advice Simon Jary / Foundry Apple hasn’t updated any of its consumer-level desktop Macs in 2025, so prices on the M4 models are as low as they’ve ever been: M4/M4 Pro Mac mini: Apple updated the Mac mini late last year with an M4 chip and a new design. The M4 Mac mini is a fantastic device with an extremely small footprint, so don’t hesitate to grab one at a discount, we’ve seen $200/£130 off. M4 iMac: The iMac has a 24-inch 4.5K display and a speedy M4 processor starting at $1,299. Look for sales below $1,150/£1,170 before you decide to buy one. Does Apple discount Macs for Black Friday? Apple doesn’t drop prices for Black Friday. Rather, it gives away gift cards when you buy certain items. For Apple’s Black Friday shopping event in 2025 it is giving away gift cards with MacBook Air, Mac mini, iMac and M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook Pro purchases made on Apple’s U.S. site or Apple’s U.K. site. Since they are so new, the M5 MacBook Pro models aren’t included in Apple’s deal. The 2025 deal is pretty good. You can get a gift card for up to $250 on a new Mac, which is better than 2024’s maximum offer. 202520242023202215-inch MacBook Air$200$200$200n/a13-inch MacBook Air$175$175$175$15013-inch MacBook Air (M2)–$150$150$150Mac mini$100–$100$10014-inch & 16-inch MacBook Pro$250––$250iMac$150––$150 Buying from Apple means you are guaranteed to be buying the latest Mac, whereas other resellers may be clearing old stock. Does Apple do a Black Friday sale? Does Apple hold a Black Friday sale? We wish it would but, unfortunately, Apple’s Black Friday offer is usually a giveaway of Apple Gift Cards with certain purchases made during the Black Friday period. It gives away gift cards with select purchases from Black Friday to Cyber Monday each year, so it is no surprise that it will do the same between November 28 and December 1 in 2025. This year the company is giving away up to $250/£200 with Macs, $100/£80 with iPads and $75/£60 with iPhones. This is a better offer than in November 2024 when the company gave away gift cards with values up to $200/£160 with select purchases made in the Apple Store (online and in person) on Black Friday as well as on the Saturday, Sunday and on Cyber Monday. You can see how much Apple is giving away in 2025 compared to what it gave away in 2024, 2023 and 2022 below. As for which products are included in Apple’s Black Friday gift voucher deal, there are always lots of products left out of Apple’s deal. Don’t expect any of the newest Apple products to be included: back in 2024 Apple didn’t offer vouchers with products that had recently launched, including iPhone 16 or Apple Watch Series 10, this year the iPhone 17 is not included and nor are the new iPad Pro or M5 MacBook, but the Apple Watch 11 is part of the deal. Luckily Apple isn’t the only place you can buy Apple products and there are lots of other resellers discounting Apple Products for Black Friday. You will be able to get some great discounts at Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, and Walmart in the U.S. and in the U.K. Amazon, KRCS, Argos, Currys, John Lewis and AO usually have good deals. What is Apple’s Black Friday offer? Apple’s offer for 2025 is gift vouchers for the following amounts, ts&cs are here: $25/£20 Apple Gift Card: AirPods 4, AirPods 4 (ANC), Apple TV 4K, Apple Pencil Pro, Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard for iPad Air, Magic Keyboard Folio for iPad, Beats Pill $50/£40 Apple Gift Card: iPhone 16e, HomePod, AirPods Pro 3, iPad (A16), iPad mini, Beats Studio Pro, Beats Solo 4, Beats Studio Buds +, Powerbeats Pro 2, Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 11 $75/£60 Apple Gift Card: iPhone 16, 16 Plus, AirPods Max $100/£80 Apple Gift Card: iPad Air, Mac mini $175/£140 Apple Gift Card: 13-inch MacBook Air $150/£120 Apple Gift Card: iMac $200/£160 Apple Gift Card: 15-inch MacBook Air $250/£200 Apple Gift Card: 14-inch & 16-inch MacBook Pro (M4 Pro/M4 Max) Get Apple's Black Friday offer (U.S.) Get Apple's Black Friday offer (U.K.) Apple’s Black Friday offer.Apple How good is Apple’s 2025 Black Friday deal? Short verdict: Apple’s 2025 gift card event is better than last year, but most shoppers will still save more buying from retailers rather than directly from Apple. The 2025 deal is pretty similar to the 2024 deal, the main difference is that this year the Apple Watch Series 11 is included where in 2024 the Apple Watch Series 10 was not included. The $250 give away with MacBook Pro is back after a gap of a few years. It’s no surprise that the newest items, such as the iPhone 17, aren’t included: Apple rarely includes the products that were only just updated, but the inclusion of the AirPods Pro 3 and Apple Watch 11 are good to see. Apple’s 2024 vouchers were for the following values: $25/£20 Apple Gift Card: AirPods 4, iPhone SE, Apple TV 4K, Apple Pencil Pro, Apple Pencil (2nd generation), Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro (M4), Magic Keyboard for iPad Air (M2), Magic Keyboard Folio, Smart Folio for iPad Pro, Smart Folio for iPads Pro, Air And 10th gen, Beats Solo Buds, Beats Pill, or Beats Flex $50/£40 Apple Gift Card: iPhone 14, HomePod, AirPods Pro 2, Apple Watch SE, iPad 10th gen, Beats Studio Pro, Beats Solo 4 Wireless, Beats Fit Pro, Beats Studio Buds + $75/£60 Apple Gift Card: iPhone 15, AirPods Max, iPad Air (M2) $100/£80 Apple Gift Card: iPad Pro (M4) $150/£120 Apple Gift Card: 13-inch MacBook Air (M2) $175/£140 Apple Gift Card: 13-inch MacBook Air (M3) $200/£160 Apple Gift Card: 15-inch MacBook Air (M3) The 2024 deal was pretty similar to the 2023 deal, the main difference being that the Apple Watch Series 10 was not included, where the Apple Watch Series 9 was. The deal was even better in 2022 when Apple offered up to $250/£250 in Apple Gift Cards with the MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch. The biggest disappointment in 2024 was that the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac, iPhone 16 and other new products weren’t included, Apple rarely includes the newest items and these products were only just updated. One change was that the AirPods 4 did get a gift card accompaniment despite being launched in September, so we are hopeful that the same could be true for the AirPods Pro 4. 2022’s deal actually went a little further than Apple’s 2021 Black Friday offer. Although that depends on your perspective – you could also think that Apple’s Black Friday shopping event was worse in 2022. In 2021 the biggest Apple Gift Card on offer was for $200/£160, which was the saving offered with the sale of the 27-inch iMac (which was discontinued in 2022). Poland has launched a new antitrust investigation into Apple's App Tracking Transparency rules, questioning whether Apple misled users about privacy while giving its own apps a competitive advantage over third-party developers. AppleInsider reports: On November 25, Poland's UOKiK has started another investigation into App Tracking Transparency, and whether Apple had restricted competition in mobile advertising. Reuters reports that, to the anti-monopoly regulator, ATT may have limited advertisers' ability to collect user data for advertising purposes while simultaneously favoring Apple's ad program. On November 25, Poland's UOKiK has started another investigation into App Tracking Transparency, and whether Apple had restricted competition in mobile advertising. Reuters reports that, to the anti-monopoly regulator, ATT may have limited advertisers' ability to collect user data for advertising purposes while simultaneously favoring Apple's ad program. This is not the first time that Poland has looked into ATT rules. In December 2021, the regulator held a similar probe following criticism from advertisers. It's not clear what that complaint determined, or if it is still ongoing. Regardless, in the new complaint, the logic is that Apple had a competitive advantage since its own apps were not subject to ATT rules, but third-party apps did have to deal with ATT. Since Apple didn't visibly ask for consent for its first-party apps in the same way, there is a presumption that Apple's rules only applied to other companies. This is despite Apple's repeated insistence that it doesn't use the same kinds of collected data in its own apps and services for marketing purposes, as well as its stance on privacy in general. In short, Apple apps don't use the data, so it doesn't pop up a dialog box asking the user if the app can use the data. There is also the argument that, in setting up an account with Apple, users are providing blanket consent to the company. Implementing ATT on its own apps would therefore be a waste of time, since that consent was already granted. Apple said that it will work with the regulator on the matter, but warned that it could force them to withdraw the feature "to the detriment of European consumers."
