For me, Qi 2.2 is quietly becoming one of the biggest upgrades to MagSafe we have seen since it launched with the iPhone 12. Faster charging speeds, better heat management, and stronger magnets make wireless charging feel a lot closer to a wired experience. ESR is already out front with hardware that takes full advantage of it, and their new 3-in-1 charging station is one of the best examples yet. more…07:20 pmBeta 1 for watchOS 26.3, tvOS 26.3, and more available now

Macworld You know, there’s a saying that goes something like, “Once it’s posted on the internet, it lives forever.” Usually, that’s in reference to that cringy social media post you made after pounding several six-packs of White Claw with your buddies. But it also refers to discontinued Apple products that are mostly forgotten. Maxim Leyzerovich on X posted a link that he found on Apple’s website: https://www.apple.com/welcomescreen/ilife/iweb-3/, which is a page for iWeb ’09, one of Apple’s apps that was part of the discontinued iLife software suite. The link is legitimate–Apple still hosts this old product page on a server somewhere, but you can’t really do much on the page. The Click to Play button opens a window for QuickTime, which has a button that takes you to a QuickTime for Windows download page. The Video Tutorials link takes you to Apple’s Mac product site, and the Hands-on Help link takes you to the Apple Store location finder. But wait, there’s more! Kaylemate posted on X this link: https://www.apple.com/welcomescreen/aperture3/, which opens a website for Aperture 3. Like the iWeb ’09 website, the links on the Aperture 3 site don’t really work. Apple iWeb, iLife, and Aperture were discontinued long ago, but they’ve never really been forgotten by longtime Mac users–an Apple as well, it seems. But you can count on these website coming down sooner than later, especially now that we’re calling attention to them. Apple doesn’t like to dwell on the past. If you’re wondering how a gigantic corporation could let something like this happen, well, don’t be too surprised. As anyone who’s tried to build a website before will tell you, it’s easy to overlook a few files on your web host. Maybe a backup restoration was involved, and these old files were part of that. However it happened, it happened. Enjoy the nostalgia while it lasts.06:42 pmCarPlay in iOS 26.2 makes a key new feature even better (for some)

In order to correct for the overambitious firings of so many federal technologists, the Trump administration has announced a new initiative called the "Tech Force," and is calling on Silicon Valley to staff it.An image shared by the US Tech Force website. Image source: Tech ForceThe United States government has gone through some tumultuous months after a new administration took over, created the Department of Government Efficiency, and promptly fired thousands of federal employees. The haste and seeming randomness of the dissolution of so many teams, programs, and initiatives left the United States floundering on the world stage as it attempts to compete.According to a report from Nextgov, big tech companies will play a role in helping the US government create the Tech Force. Donated senior managers from tech firms would work for the government and be given a leave of absence or sabbatical from their home companies for two years. Macworld Your last-minute holiday shopping is officially wrapped up thanks to this incredible Apple Watch deal: Best Buy is selling the black titanium Apple Watch Ultra 2 for $549 today only, a massive $250 off the original MSRP and the best price we’ve ever seen—even lower than Black Friday. Amazon has the same price for the natural titanium model, but also notes that it’s a limited-time deal. With built-in GPS and cellular connectivity, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will keep you connected even without your phone nearby, making it ideal for hiking, swimming, and all sorts of sports. And of course, it’s an absolutely excellent device for tracking your health and workouts, providing detailed heart rate monitoring, sleep patterns, and even body temperature readings. You’ll even get hypertension alerts and a detailed Sleep Score as well as 36 hours of battery life on a single charge. We love the large screen and rugged design, but our favorite part? This deal is for the black titanium model, which is our favorite color of any Apple Watch. It looks incredible with the accents of the bright orange Action button and Digital Crown ring, and pairs well with any band. The main differences between this model and the Ultra 3 are LTE vs 5G, satellite connectivity, and slightly better battery life. Those are nice upgrades, but we don’t think they’re worth $250. So hurry up and grab the Watch Ultra 2 for $549 at Best Buy or Amazon! Buy now at Best Buy Buy now at Amazon
