We loved the new Mac mini design and M4 chip and there is $120 off at Amazon, which we’d say is a great saving, especially if you don’t need a screen. The M4 Pro chip version is a great low-cost way to get a really powerful Mac mini and there was $200 off, but that’s since dripped to $150 off, but we recommend jumping at any savings here. We don’t know if they will be getting M5 chips, but if they are, they won’t arrive until 2026, so we recommend picking up one of these deals if you’re looking for a Mac desktop. Black Friday 2025: Top shopping tips We tend to find that the biggest savings are on older models, but be aware that these aren’t always the best value for money. Check the generation of the model that is discounted to make sure you know exactly what you are buying and what it’s really worth. We’ve seen resellers switch to selling refurbished or used when the stock of brand-new models run out, so check that the model discounted isn’t actually a used Mac and therefore not as good a deal as it might look. That’s not to say you should avoid refurb models; you just need to make sure that you aren’t buying something used when you want a new model. Mac deals aren’t limited to Black Friday. We see good deals all year round, so don’t feel pressured into buying during Black Friday. How to get the best MacBook deals for Black Friday 2025: Our advice Foundry Apple updated nearly all of its MacBook models in 2025, and we expect to see all-time-low pricing on many models and configurations. M4 MacBook Air: released this past March with a $100 price cut. The base model is $999 and can be found for $750/£849 during Black Friday week. M4 Pro/Max MacBook Pro: released in 2024 and are still excellent machines. Worth the investment when it’s $300/£250 or more off. M5 MacBook Pro: released in October, but we are already seeing discounts of $250 and £200. How to get the best Mac deals for Black Friday 2025: Our advice Simon Jary / Foundry Apple hasn’t updated any of its consumer-level desktop Macs in 2025, so prices on the M4 models are as low as they’ve ever been: M4/M4 Pro Mac mini: Apple updated the Mac mini late last year with an M4 chip and a new design. The M4 Mac mini is a fantastic device with an extremely small footprint, so don’t hesitate to grab one at a discount, we’ve seen $200/£130 off. M4 iMac: The iMac has a 24-inch 4.5K display and a speedy M4 processor starting at $1,299. Look for sales below $1,150/£1,170 before you decide to buy one. Does Apple discount Macs for Black Friday? Apple doesn’t drop prices for Black Friday. Rather, it gives away gift cards when you buy certain items. For Apple’s Black Friday shopping event in 2025 it is giving away gift cards with MacBook Air, Mac mini, iMac and M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook Pro purchases made on Apple’s U.S. site or Apple’s U.K. site. Since they are so new, the M5 MacBook Pro models aren’t included in Apple’s deal. The 2025 deal is pretty good. The new M5 model is mostly a chip refresh, but it’s a great one, as we said in our 4.5-star review, and right now you can get $250 off all the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro at Amazon, taking it $50 lower than Thursday and down to the lowest price we have seen. However, even though the new model brings a major boost in GPU and SSD performance, we also loved the M4 model, and you can get an amazing $300 off the M4 MacBook Pro at Amazon. We gave them a near-perfect score in our review, but also noted that it’s a relatively small upgrade over the AirPods Pro 2, which has the same H2 chip and many similar features. The new model has the same $249 MSRP in the U.S. and a slightly lower £219 RRP in the U.K. (AirPods Pro 2 were £229), so keep that in mind when shopping. We don’t expect to see AirPods Pro 3 with more than $30-$50 off, but the older AirPods Pro 2 did dip as low as $139 at Walmart, but that deal seems to have ended now, the next best option is $189 on Amazon. The AirPods 4 have been out for over a year, but are still a fantastic pair of earbuds. The Black Friday deals of $69 for AirPods 4 was superb, but stock seems to have run out now (check to see if the model is user). You can still get AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation for less than $100, which is an excellent deal. The two new health features, hypertension alerts and Sleep Score, are also available on the Series 10, and there isn’t a new color this year. As we noted in our review, we don’t think Series 9 or 10 users need to upgrade. We are seeing savings of $60 on the Series 11, which is a great price for such a full-featured watch, but with $150 off the Series 10 you might want to consider that, you won’t miss out on much (See our comparison of every Apple Watch). The sleeper hit of the new Apple Watch lineup is the SE 3, which got the biggest update of all three models, gaining an always-on display, temperature sensor, a faster chip, on-device Siri, and fast charging. We gave it a near-perfect score of 4.5 stars and highly recommend it at full price—for $50 off, it’s a no-brainer decision. At the high end, the Ultra 3 has a slightly larger screen, satellite connectivity, and longer battery life compared to last year’s model. We’ve seen $150 off, but if you want one, we’d recommend this $599 deal on the Ultra 2 instead. Carriers will likely have enticing deals with trade-ins as well, but be wary of long-term contracts and terms. One opportunity worth considering is Apple’s Black Friday deal: You can buy an iPhone from Apple and get a gift voucher: Apple, $75 gift voucher with iPhone 16 or 16 Plus Apple, $50 gift voucher with iPhone 16e In the U.K. there are less limitations on the sale of iPhones so you will be able to pick one up unlocked at a discount if you would prefer to buy an iPhone up front, rather than on a contract. Apple only launched the iPhone 17 lineup in September, so it’s a surprise that we are seeing £100 off the iPhone Air. The iPhone 16e also has £100 off at Amazon: a good saving. Also be on the look out for deals (like this one from AO) on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max which are no longer sold by Apple but would offer a good option to those who appreciate the extra camera on the Pro iPhone models but can’t stretch to the iPhone 17 Pro. We’d suggest that when it comes to the other deals you should weigh them up against Apple’s own giveaway, where you could get £60 or £40 vouchers with the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, or iPhone 16e, respectively. For example, £100 off an iPhone 16e is better than Apple’s £40 voucher, but AO’s £55 off iPhone 16 (128GB) doesn’t match Apple’s £60 voucher deal so it would be worth waiting to see it that goes lower. For decades, it aired on broadcast TV, but that’s no longer the case–it’s now an Apple TV exclusive. Now, the fact that this institution is on a streaming service may cause you to exclaim, “Bah! Humbug!” and send Apple a stocking full of coal, but stop, sip some egg nog, and relax–yes, I’m talking about you, Uncle Fred. Apple is making A Charlie Brown Christmas available to anyone to watch for free, for a limited time. If you are an Apple TV subscriber, however, you can watch it anytime. How to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas for free on Apple TV On December 13 and 14, anyone with an Apple ID can watch A Charlie Brown Christmas. Anyone who owns an Apple device has an Apple ID, but if you don’t, Apple IDs are free and you don’t need a credit card to sign up. Once you have signed up, you can watch in several ways: Through the TV app on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. On smart TVs with the Apple TV app. On the web at tv.apple.com. On an Apple TV device. Apple has all the classic Peanuts specials for the holiday season that used to air over broadcast TV. This means that thumb drives aren’t ideal for handling larger files, or for making regular Time Machine backups on your Mac. However, Kingston’s new Dual Portable SSD offers the best of both worlds, combining the compact design of a thumb drive with the speed and capacity of an SSD. In fact, the Dual Portable SSD is so small that Kingston refers to it as an SSD “camouflaged as a thumb drive”. It certainly looks the part, with a compact rectangular design that measures just 72mm long, 21mm wide and a mere 8.6mm thick. It’s about the same size as the Kingston 64GB thumb drive that I often use for quick file transfers in my office, but is far faster and has much greater storage capacity. You can easily slip it into your pocket when you’re travelling, and it only weighs 13g so you’ll barely notice it as you carry it around. It’s sturdy though, with a bright red metal casing that feels solid enough to cope with life on the road. Kingston doesn’t quote an IP rating for weather resistance, so you should probably avoid getting it wet if possible, but the company is confident enough to provide a five-year warranty and the drive should be more than tough enough to cope with general day-to-day use. Dual USB interfaces allow you to instantly connect the drive to most computers and mobile devices. Kingston Technology Dual Drive Most SSDs use a conventional USB cable to connect to your computers or mobile devices but, like a thumb drive, the Dual Portable SSD has a USB interface that is built right into the body of the drive. Or, to be precise, it has ‘dual’ interfaces – hence the name – with a USB-A interface on one end of the drive and USB-C on the other end. That ensures compatibility with a wide range of computers and mobile devices, although when plugged in to a USB-C port on my MacBook Pro the width of the drive did mean that it obscured the adjacent USB-C port on the MacBook, which might be inconvenient if you have other USB devices, such as a keyboard or mouse, that you need to plug in as well. We were also a little concerned about the small plastic covers that protect the USB connectors on the drive, as these come right off and could easily be lost if you’re moving around a lot. The drive performs well, though. It doesn’t support Thunderbolt, relying instead on USB 3.2 Gen 2, but Kingston quotes speeds of 950MB/s for write performance and 1,050MB/s for read performance. Our tests with the BlackMagic Disk Speed Test showed that the write speed right was on the nail at 950MB/s. The read performance was slightly slower at 920MB/s but that should still be fine for general day-to-day use when transferring files, or for routine Time Machine backups on your Mac.  The drive’s metal case keeps it safe on the road, with removable caps to protect the USB interfaces. Kingston Technology The ultra-compact design does come at a cost, though, and the Dual Portable SSD is a little more expensive than other SSD drives that we’ve reviewed recently, including Kingston’s slightly larger XS1000. Prices start at $125.89/£87.41 for a drive with 512GB storage, although we tested the 1TB version that costs $143.99/£128.31. There’s also a 2TB option available as well, for $238.99/£211.93. There’s no software provided with the drive either. Kingston does make an app called SSD Manager, which provides basic features for monitoring the drive’s health and performance, but this is currently only available for Windows PCs. That’s not a problem for Mac users who can use Apple’s Disk Utility and Time Machine to provide diagnostic and back-up features. However, some users might require a drive that includes an app that provides password protection for their files, as some of Kingston’s rivals do.  Should You Buy The Dual Portable SSD Professional users might prefer a faster drive that supports Thunderbolt to provide maximum performance for large graphics or video files, but the USB performance of the Dual Portable SSD is more than adequate for routine tasks such as file transfer and Time Machine backups. Its compact and sturdy design also makes it an ideal option for people who need a backup drive that they can quickly slip into their pocket when travelling.
