- 07:49 pmHere’s how the new MacBook Pro and macOS 27 are optimized for touch
Apple just unveiled the new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR, its first MacBook with a touch display. While Apple already added a handful of touch optimizations to macOS 27 Golden Gate earlier this year, there’s also a number of new optimizations that were unveiled alongside the new MacBook Pro. Here’s what Apple worked on. more…07:30 pmIndie App Spotlight: ‘Pumpkin Lights’ adds a fun jack-o-lantern to your Mac’s menu bar

Apple introduced the new Beats 360 headphones about a month and a half ago. I reviewed them, and really appreciated their customizable design, the fact that they offer automatic device switching, as well as their comfort. At the time, Beats offered launch pricing on additional sets of cushions, bringing them down from $50 to just $10. After today, that steep discount will be ending. more…05:47 pmIs the new touchscreen MacBook Pro a touch too much? [Cult of Mac podcast 39]
This week on the "Cult of Mac" podcast: Apple releases the first touchscreen Mac in history — and totally soft-pedals the touch part! (via Cult of Mac - Your source for the latest Apple news, rumors, analysis, reviews, how-tos and deals.)03:42 pmMacBook Pro with PROLED XDR looks awesome, but I’m not rushing to upgrade
After five years, Apple released its first major MacBook Pro overhaul since the M1 Pro/M1 Max models, and well… it was a little bit underwhelming from a design perspective. The product is incredible on many merits, but after seeing it, I’m not left feeling like I need to buy one – at least not yet. more…03:42 pmApple Maps begins blurring NASA, Space Force, and Air Force bases
You’re not a real space or aviation nerd unless you’ve taken to a map service and zoomed on the historic NASA launch pads or your local Air Force Bases, just for fun, you know? However, a recent change to Apple Maps now has some of those locations blurred from view, blocking anyone from seeing fighters on tarmacs or rockets on launch pads. more…03:22 pmA new M5 MacBook Pro is down to $1,349 in this insane blowout deal
Macworld Clearance Deal Save $650 on a brand-new M5 MacBook Pro View Deal (function () { document.querySelector("#sticky-promo-block a").addEventListener("click", function(e) { const debug = document.location.host.search(/lndo.site|go-vip.net/) !== -1; const text = this.closest("#sticky-promo-block").querySelector("p.promo-title").textContent; const data = { event: "stickyConversionUnitClick", eventCategory: "Sticky Conversion", eventAction: "Click", eventLabel: text }; if(debug)console.log("Sticky Conversion CLick - pushing to dataLayer: ", data); dataLayer.push(data); return true; }); })(); Ever since Apple raised prices on MacBooks in June, we haven’t seen prices drop anywhere near where they used to be. Today’s deal gets there and then some: Amazon is selling the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro for $1,349, an impressive savings of $650 and the best price we’ve ever seen—before or after the price hike. With the launch of the M6 this week, this is now the previous-generation MacBook Pro, but there’s not much more you’re getting by paying $650 more for a new model. The M5 chip is still incredibly fast with 16GB of RAM and a super-fast 1TB drive that has 2x faster read/write performance compared to the M4 model. Of course, it also comes with a brilliant Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, and Wi-Fi 7. If you want to use It as a desktop replacement, you can also hook up a pair of high-resolution external displays. And with 24-hour battery life, you’ll be able to take it anywhere without a worry. In our 4.5-star review, we said the MacBook Pro offers “a tremendous combination of price, performance, and features,” and that was at its full price of $1,599. Now that it’s $250 less than that, it’s a no-brainer purchase. So go grab a MacBook Pro for just $1,350 and save $650 before it’s gone forever.03:20 pmToday in Apple history: iTunes video takes world by storm
Soon after launching video downloads with iTunes 6, Apple says it has already sold more than 1 million music videos. iTunes video is a hit! (via Cult of Mac - Your source for the latest Apple news, rumors, analysis, reviews, how-tos and deals.)03:19 pmApple @ Work: Next to a growing token bill, Macs might start looking like a bargain
Apple @ Work is exclusively brought to you by Mosyle, the only Apple Unified Platform. Mosyle is the only solution that integrates in a single professional grade platform all the solutions necessary to seamlessly and automatically deploy, manage, and protect Apple devices at work. Apple hardware costs more than it did a year ago, and if you have purchased a fleet recently, you are feeling it. Now, one thing I should mention: Macs have not risen in price with inflation or performance. If you think about what a Mac mini or MacBook Air cost when they launched vs. today, I would still say they are extremely affordable. With that being said, there’s a scenario taking shape in the enterprise where the price of a Mac matters a lot less than it used to. If open-weight AI models become a real part of how companies work, Apple Silicon might end up looking basically free compared to the token bill it supplements. more…02:40 pmApple's M5 MacBook Pro plunges to $1,349, lowest price on record
