Iomega updates HipZip firmware

Iomega has posted an update for HipZip, the company’s digital audio player. The newest firmware version, 1.00454, has many fixes including increased sound quality in lower bit rates; playlist Manager update to allow you to highlight and play a song on the list; changes to the playlist order will remain even after the disk is ejected; support for low bit-rate WMA files (16 Kpbs); auto shutdown time change from 30 seconds to 2 minutes; and much more.

Shares of Apple slip below $20

Apple is presently trading down $1.80 today, or 8.4 percent, as the tech-sector is getting battered following an earnings warning from Sun Microsystems. This marks the first time in more than two months that Apple has fallen below $20; during that same time it has traded as high $27.

Rolling Stone: Moby’s PowerBooks

The June 21, 2001 issue of Rolling Stone magazine features an article titled “Moby’s Laptop Studio” (p. 63) that describes the artist’s mobile set up. “I use two Apple [PowerBook] G4s — one for Pro Tools and one for Cubase,” Moby says.
