ATI became the latest manufacturer today to offer a FireWire PCI card with its DV Wonder. While the US$49.95 card is billed a PC product and ships only with PC software, it should be compatible with Macs using Apple’s FireWire extensions.

Intel has developed a new transistor technology that’s 1,000 times faster than the transistors featured on today’s microprocessors. While not expected to debut in chips until 2007, the technology could deliver an enormous performance boost to processors.

VersionTracker notes that Griffin Technology has re-posted iMic Control 1.2 — a utility that provides additional features and control for the company’s iMic USB audio adapter. Version 1.2, which was inexplicably pulled from the Web site for the past several days, allows the control panel to continue to be used with the Rev 2 version of the iMic as well as some other small fixes that may make the control panel more robust.

Apple will be one of a handful of companies in the publishing and design space that will be participating in the Open House Tour in Germany.
