Epson, Mitsubishi deliver new projectors

Epson today announced the PowerLite 600p, 800p, and 810p portable projectors. All three feature a new 0.9-inch high aperture LCD and 400:1 contrast ratio. The 600p project 1,700 ANSI lumens at a resolution of 800×600, while the 800p and 810p project 1,500 and 2,000 ANSI lumens, respectively, at 1024×768. The projectors will sell in August for US$3,799, $4,275, and $5,225.

Palm to split hardware and software division

As Palm struggles to be profitable as competitors undercut its prices on similar Palm OS-based devices, the company has decided it will split its hardware and software division. Apparently, development costs are not being recuperated from hardware sales and software licenses. Apple faced a similar problem when it allowed other companies to license the Mac OS for clones.

Macworld UK Poll shows 44% using Mac OS X

A poll on Macworld UK shows that 44% of respondents are using Mac OS X. The catch, however, is that very few are using it exclusively. The biggest complaints shown in the poll are speed issues with the new operating system and expanded availability of carbonized software titles.
