Iomega has quietly begun shipping the US$399.95 USB version of its Peerless drive ahead of schedule, according the company’s site. Macworld UK also reports that the unit has begun shipping in the UK for £269. The Peerless uses removable 10GB and 20GB cartridge drives, and comes with a 20GB drive. USB 2.0, FireWire, and SCSI interface cables, which can be used with the same base unit, will be available later.

VersionTracker notes that America Online has made a new version of their online service software for Mac OS X available. AOL 6C, which can be downloaded while logged into AOL (use Keyword “Beta”), contains a number of bug fixes.

Sonnet has updated their drivers for the Encore G4 X, as noted on VersionTracker. Version 1.0.1 adds enhanced-compatibility with the download version of the Startup Disk Control Panel 9.2.1. Sonnet notes that if you have successfully run version 1.0 of the driver install, you do not need this update.

Blizzard Entertainment has released an update for their popular game, Diablo II. Blizzard indicates there is a long list of fixes in the 1.0.8 patch and recommends reading the documentation included with the file for full details on the changes.

Quark has released an update for their dynamic layout and visualization tool, QuarkWrapture. The application creates virtual packages by fusing the graphic design to the CAD structure, letting you view complete packaging concepts in three dimensions.
