Fujifilm introduces Porsche-designed FinePix 4800

Fujifilm today announced the FinePix 4800 Zoom digital camera, which features a 2.4 million-sensor Super CCD, 3x optical zoom, 3.75x digital zoom, and the ability to capture video and audio. The camera can generate image sizes of up to 4.2 megapxels. The FinePix 4800 is available now for US$699 and ships with a 16MB SmartMedia card.

Corel announces Bryce 5

Following the Macworld UK article from earlier today, Corel has officially announced Bryce 5. While Corel’s site is still not updated, the press release notes that the software will be available in July for US$309 for Mac OS and Mac OS X. New features include network rendering, for enabling multiple computers to render a single image or animation, a Premium quality rendering option, a tree lab for creating 3D trees, and a light lab that offers more control over lighting and effects.

Compaq to abandon 64-bit Alpha processor

Compaq has announced that it will be abandoning its 64-bit Alpha processor in its high-end servers in 2004, opting instead for Intel’s Itanium. Compaq’s proprietary Alpha processor has long been regarded as one of the most powerful microprocessors in the world for server and mainframe applications.

Corel Bryce 5: Good to go

Corel has apparently finished work on Bryce 5, a Carbonized version of its 3D scenery software, according to a Macworld UK article that discusses the new version of the software. Corel’s site, however, has yet to be updated. Bryce 5 will sell in the UK for £194.
