NETsettings.com has released a new version of Nokia Contact adding the ability to send contacts using Eudora, Outlook Express and Entourage.

Metricom, which provides high-speed wireless access in several metropolitan areas across the US, has filed for bankruptcy. The company plans to keep its 41,000 customers online, although it’s unclear for how long. In May, Metricom, which has never been profitable, announced it would need $500 million in cash to sustain its operations. The company evidently failed to raise the needed capital.

iWake 1.0 is a new utility that adds a “Wakeup Items” folder to the Mac OS. Similar to the Startup Items functionality, any files or applications in the Wakeup Items folder will be automatically launched when a Mac wakes from sleep.

An eWeek article discusses Oracle’s recent announcement that it will be bringing out an OS X client to connect to the company’s 9i database. A preview of the client is due in the third quarter, with the final version expected before years’ end.

Macromedia has announced that Kevin Lynch, President of products, will deliver the FlashForward 2001 keynote address on July 11. FlashForward 2001 takes place July 11-13 at the Hammerstein Ballroom and New Yorker Hotel in New York City and will feature more than 42 sessions as well as the Flash Film Festival.
