A new Nielsen/NetRatings report show that women make up more than half of the Web’s users in the US and Canada. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, the number of female users continues to increase significantly, with women generally comprising 40 to 45 percent of the Web surfing population. Men still spend more time online, however.

c|net has published an article discussing the increased roll that security will play in Mac OS X. While the Mac OS has traditionally been fool-proof when it comes to malicious attacks, Mac OS X’s UNIX underpinnings make it significantly more vulnerable, an issue that Apple is aware of and working hard to ensure won’t disrupt users.

Yves Pelletier has released YP Vernier 1.1, an application for showing how to use a vernier scale to measure length with great precision. YP Vernier is US$15 shareware. Yves Pelletier has written a host of other physics software, as well.
