Memora to show its personal server platform for Mac OS X

Memora, creators of the Servio Personal Server, have announced that they will be unveiling a software-only version of their product at Macworld Expo this week. Any user running Mac OS X will be able set up their Mac as a media server for organizing, accessing and sharing digital content, such as movies, MP3s, pictures and more. Memora will offer its software at a special discount for Expo attendees of US$149.95 (July 18-July 20), after which the regular price will be $199.95.

LaCie’s PocketDrive now 35MB/s, 48GB model announced

LaCie today announced new additions to their FireWire storage lineup. The company states that their 10GB, 20GB and 30GB PocketDrives now provide transfer rates of up to 35MB/s using their new FireWire-to-IDE bridge. In addition, the LaCie will be unveiling their new 48GB PocketDrive (US$849 after a $30 mail-in rebate) at Macworld Expo this week (booth # 1913). The unit measures 3.5″ x 5.75″ x 1″, weighs less than a pound, and also achieves transfer rates of up to 35MB/s.
