Seek Systems today announced that it has added Mac support to its FasFile Xcelerator product, which boosts the performance of disk storage systems. FasFile Xcelerator features an advanced cache and cache management that works to accelerate transfers between an application and SCSi-attached JBOD or RAID storage. Performance improvement is claimed to be as high as 400 percent on both Mac OS and Mac OS X systems.

Memora, creators of the Servio Personal Server, have announced that they will be unveiling a software-only version of their product at Macworld Expo this week. Any user running Mac OS X will be able set up their Mac as a media server for organizing, accessing and sharing digital content, such as movies, MP3s, pictures and more. Memora will offer its software at a special discount for Expo attendees of US$149.95 (July 18-July 20), after which the regular price will be $199.95.

LaCie today announced new additions to their FireWire storage lineup. The company states that their 10GB, 20GB and 30GB PocketDrives now provide transfer rates of up to 35MB/s using their new FireWire-to-IDE bridge. In addition, the LaCie will be unveiling their new 48GB PocketDrive (US$849 after a $30 mail-in rebate) at Macworld Expo this week (booth # 1913). The unit measures 3.5″ x 5.75″ x 1″, weighs less than a pound, and also achieves transfer rates of up to 35MB/s.

Summary.Net has posted a new beta of their industrial strength Web log analysis application. Summary 2.0b3 contains a number of fixes and improvements. This beta version will expire on August 28, 2001.
