Diasoft today announced FileReplicationPro for Mac OS X, a Java-based mirroring and backup solution for servers. FileReplicationPro supports Mac, Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000, Unix, and Linux and can backup different operating systems from any platform. Diasoft also claims its product is the fastest such solution on the market. Pricing starts at US$599 for a 2-pak license.

Employees of Open Door Networks, a company with expertise in Macintosh Internet security, have authored “Internet Security for Your Macintosh,” a new book from Peachpit Press that encompasses the company’s knowledge of security and the Mac, including broadband connection risks and Mac OS X. The title is available now for US$19.99.

QPS will be introducing a host of new products at Macworld Expo (booth #455): Que! M2 40GB and 60GB hard drive; Que! M5 RAID in 120GB, 160GB, and 200GB capacities; new 100GB Que! M3 hard drive; Que! DVD-R/DVD-RAM burner; Que! 24x10x40x FireWire burner; and Que! DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW SuperDrive. The company will also be demonstrating the Que! 007 — a battery-operated, stand-alone CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive that also features MP3 capabilities.

Thursby Software has posted DAVE for Mac OS X. While not a public beta, per se, the software, which allows Macs to function like a PC on a Windows network, is available free of charge. The company plans on releasing a commercial version of DAVE for Mac OS X in the near future; the current version has several known issues and is only compatible with 10.0.4.

iPass today announced iPassConnect 1.8 for Mac, the first Mac version of the company’s client software that allows users to securely and remotely access corporate networks, email, and other applications from all over the world. Among the features of iPassConnect are automatic phonebook updates and VPN integration.
