EZQuest has begun shipping a 48GB version of its Cobra slim line FireWire hard drive. The Cobra 48GB features IBM’s new 5400 RPM drive and delivers a claimed transfer speed of up to 28MB/sec. The drive is available now for US$599 and comes with a two-year warranty and all necessary cables and software.

TechTracker today announced VersionTracker To Go, a Palm clipping application that connects Palm OS users to VersionTracker’s online database through any Palm OS-based wireless device. The software is available free of charge.

LaCie has begun shipping its new SuperDLT220 tape drive, which supports up to 220GB of compressed data and transfer speeds of up to 11MB/sec. The device features an ultra wide SCSI interface and sells for US$4,999 with a 5-license copy of Dantz’ Retrospect backup software.

ATI today introduced the Radeon VE Mac Edition graphics card, which delivers dual-display capability on a single card. The Radeon VE is a PCI card that features 32MB of DDR memory, a VGA port, DVI port, and TV-out connector. The card will ship in September for US$129.

Opera 5.0b2, a new beta of the alternative Web browser, is available for download, although the product’s page has yet to be updated. VersionTracker has a complete list of changes in this version, which include improvements to Java support and countless other tweaks and fixes.
