For Mac owners considering an upgrade to an SSD [Solid State Drive], the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro RE SSD is a great choice, thanks to its GC abilities. Some day almost all computer drives will be SSDs, but that scenario is a ways off as SSD drives are still VERY pricey compared to hard disk drives (HDDs).

At my age, I’m not worried too much about what folks think about me. So I’ll use the Doxie scanner with its girl-y look if I want to, darn it, because it works.

The Doxie (http://www.getdoxie.com) is a paper scanner designed for homes and small businesses. The US$129 portable scanner is for scanning, sharing, and organizing paper and photos.

I love Harman Kardon products. I’ve reviewed (and bought) plenty of ’em over the years. However, the GLA-55 high end” system (“http://www.harmankardon.com/EN-US/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?PID=GLA-55) is too expensive by any stretch of the imagination. How expensive? A thousand smackers.

For a cool grand, you’ll get some of the most unusual looking speaker systems ever to see the light of day. As my son Matt noted, they look like two alien noggins from “Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls” sitting on my desk.

The 22-inch FlexScan S2242W LCD from Eizo (http://www.eizo.com) features a high native resolution of 1920×1200 usually found on larger sized monitors. This allows you to see approximately the same amount of information that’s visible on most 24-inch displays but occupies less space. The best part is that this doesn’t compromise image quality or create text that’s difficult to discern.
