Microsoft shows off Office 10, releases MSN Messenger 2.0

At Macworld Expo today, Microsoft offered a first look at Office 10 for Mac OS X, which is also available for viewing on the Web. The software will ship this fall. Microsoft also released MSN Messenger 2.0 for Mac, which is Carbonized for Mac OS X and offers a host of new features. Finally, Microsoft announced and demonstrated Windows Media Player for Mac OS X, which will be available later this year.

ThinkFree releases preview of Java-based office suite

ThinkFree has introduced a preview version of ThinkFree Office for Mac OS X, a Java-based Office suite that’s used over the Internet. ThinkFree Office features Microsoft Office-compatible versions of a word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation application, as well as file sharing capabilities. The final version is due at the end of August and will cost US$49.95 per user per year.

Eskape Labs shipping MyTV2GO

Eskape Labs has introduced MyTV2GO, a US$99 USB TV-tuner. The product is also available with an FM tuner, although pricing for that model is unknown. MyTV2O requires a relatively hefty 350 MHz G3 processor or faster and is already available at some CompUSA locations. The company also announced today that it has struck and agreement with Griffin Technology that will enable it to offer Griffin’s USB iMic audio capture device for a “significant savings” to its customers.
