Everyone can’t be at the Macworld Expo in New York City and we’d like to give you a flavor of what is taking place on the show floor. MacMinute has posted the remainder of our photo coverage of the show… just in case you missed it.

Macworld magazine has announced this year’s Macworld Expo Best of Show awards. Rounding out the top five are Apple OS 10.1, the Apple 867 MHz PowerMac G4, Asante’s FriendlyNet Wireless Ready Cable/DSL Router, Canon’s D2400UF, and DiamondSoft’s Font Reserve Server for OS X. VersionTracker notes the release of Windows Media Player 7.0.1 – Microsoft’s multimedia application that allows you to play both streaming and downloadable audio and video content in Windows Media Format. No details were available at press time regarding changes in this release.

There has been some confusion since Wednesday’s announcement of the September release of Mac OS X version 10.1 and whether or not it will be a free upgrade. Apple sources have told MacMinute that despite 10.1 being a “free upgrade” in the words of CEO Steve Jobs, users will have to purchase an installation CD by mail for a US$20 shipping and handling charge… read more
