Seek Systems today announced two high-performance, enterprise data storage solutions, engineered specifically to take advantage of G4 systems. The MacRAID-S, for US$25,917, delivers 365GB of storage (73GB hard drives) with 256MB of adaptive SSD controller cache. The MacRAID-L, for US$55,354, offers 1.2TB of storage (180GB drives) and a 1GB cache.

Intel and AMD are both vying to change the shape of PCs in the near future with technologies that will speed up overall performance. Intel’s Arapahoe technology is being positioned as the successor to PCI, offering a much higher-speed input/output solution. Meanwhile, AMD’s HyperTransport technology is also being aimed as a successor to PCI, as well as other applications.

LaCie has updated its PocketDrive with a new IDE-to-FireWire bridge that’s capable of transferring data at speeds up to 35MB/sec — twice the speed of the original PocketDrive, according to Macworld UK. The new series of PocketDrives will ship in the near future.

Smith Micro Software has released a new version of VideLink Pro, its standards based video conferencing solution. The product supports H.323 standards for cross-platform video conferencing, as well as support for H.261 video compression. The company’s VideoLink World makes it easy for users to meet and communicate with other people across the globe. VideoLink Pro is available for US$59.95.

An Apple retail store in Miami, Florida is slated for opening in October, according to a reader at MacNN. The store is currently under construction at The Falls Center, a relatively upscale shopping mall. Meanwhile, the Apple store in Plano, TX will open this Friday, as we noted last week.
