Apple has updated its retail store page to reflect this Friday’s opening of a store in Plano, TX. Directions to the location are also available. The Apple Store at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN will open next Saturday, August 11, although Apple has yet to add this location to its site.

As is the case every month, the two leading virus software developers have updated their definition files to cover the latest virus strains. These files will keep your virus protection software up-to-date. Symantec has updated Norton AntiVirus and McAfee has updated Virex to offer the latest insurance against infection.

Casady & Greene have updated their popular start-up file utility to incorporate support for Mac OS 9.2. (Mac OS 9.2 is not yet available as a standalone update). Conflict Catcher 8.0.9 offers a number of changes, including the addition of Mac OS 9.2 “All” and “Base Sets,” an update to the clean-install merge for 9.2, an update to the Open Transport Network Group Link, new file definitions for the Reference Library, and several bug fixes.

The Mac Show, an Internet-based live radio show focusing on all things Mac, has announced their guest lineup for tonight’s broadcast (9:00-11:00 pm ET). Tonight’s guests include Daryl Wise, Virtual Curator of the Digital Art Gallery; Chuck Joiner, the Show’s User Group Correspondent; Tom Cheek and Jon McCarron of Mac.Tucows.com; and more.

WWDC 2001 sessions on Cocoa, Darwin, Java, QuickTime, and WebObjects are available for online viewing at Apple’s Developer Connection site. The videos are available to all members, including those with the free, online account. Additionally, until August 10, individuals can purchase WWDC 2001 conference sessions and an ADC Select membership for US$900 (a $200 savings), and also receive a free PowerBook bag.
