VueScan scanner software discontinued for Mac

As noted by MacNN, Ed Hamrick has discontinued VueScan for Mac after receiving an e-mail from a manager in Apple’s Developer Relations Group “giving me a hard time about supposedly violating some sort of Non-Disclosure Agreement (which was just nonsense). I’m quite busy trying to add support for the Canon FS-4000, and I don’t have time to waste arguing with Apple. I’ve dropped Mac OS support as a result.” VueScan was a versatile scanning application that supported many scanners and created high-quality scans.

Brother introduces three new multi-function devices

Brother today announced three new flat-bed, monochrome laser, multi-function devices. The MFC-6800, MFC-9700, and MFC-9800 each offer faxing, printing, copying, and color scanning capabilities with a USB interface. The 9700 and 9800 models can also be configured with an optional network adapter. The three models vary primarily with print speeds, and are available for US$499, US$599 and US$799, respectively.
