DataViz today announced Documents To Go 4.0, a new version of the software for creating, viewing, and editing Word and Excel files on Palm OS-based handhelds. The new version also adds expanded support for spreadsheets, as well as expansion support and improved synchronization. Documents To Go 4.0 will be available later this month for US$69.95.

Sales of handhelds fell 21 percent in the second quarter from the first quarter, according to a new survey from Dataquest. Palm saw its market share drop sharply during the second quarter, down to 32 percent from 50 percent in the first quarter. Compaq’s share doubled from 8 percent to 16 percent, while Handspring’s slid from 16 percent to 11 percent.

This year’s Apple Creative Jam will challenge up to 30 entrants to author the best DVD they can during a three-day period, as noted by Macworld UK. The competition runs from September 22-25 in Paris in conjunction with Apple Expo, which runs from September 26-30. Sessions on DVD Studio Pro and Final Cut Pro will also be presented during Jam.
