Egghead, the once popular brick-and-mortar computer retailer that shifted its operations completely online in 1998, is writing the final chapter of its rocky existence. The company today announced that it will be filing for bankruptcy and that reseller Fry’s Electronics will be acquiring its Web site and “ongoing operations.”

Netopia today announced that it has begun shipping Timbuktu Pro 6.0, adding Mac OS X support and a host of other new features to its software for remotely controlling Macs. A single-license copy of Timbuktu Pro sells for US$94.95.
