New technology significantly reduces depth of CRTs

A new CRT technology, dubbed S-Cubed, could extend the life of CRTs, which many expect will be completely replaced by flat-panel displays. S-Cubed technology significantly reduces the depth of a CRT — 11-inches for a 32-inch tube, compared with 22-inches for traditional CRTd — while improving picture quality. The price premium over conventional CRTs is also expected to be minimal, at about 10 to 15 percent.

Head of Palm’s solutions group resigns

Macworld UK is reporting that Alan Kessler, head of Palm Inc.’s Platform Solutions Group, has resigned.
