On August 15 — the iMac’s third birthday — Apple asked iMac owners to tell them how the iMac has changed their lives. Apple received more than 700 emails, a number of which it has selected and posted.

Sony has announced that it will be pulling its eVilla Internet device from the US market just two months after introducing the product. Sony said the US$499 product failed to meet sales expectations, and is offering to purchase back all the units that were sold. The eVilla online service will be shut down on September 13.

VersionTracker notes the availability of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 Demo. This highly acclaimed game was released for the Macintosh back in May and was among the first games to ship Carbonized for Mac OS X. The download size is fairly hefty for this demo (30.1MB), but by all accounts should be worth it if you want to take the game for a spin.

Symantec has released new Virus Definitions for September. Further details and download links are available from the company’s Web site.

Iconographer 2.1, a full-featured 32-bit icon editor for the Mac, has been released. Version 2.1 is carbonized for Mac OS X and offers several new features, bug fixes and interface tweaks.
