NVIDIA has introduced the GeForce Titanium Series, a new line of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) that deliver improved performance over existing GeForce2 and GeForce3 product lines. The GeForce3 Titanium 500 features a core clock rate of 240 MHz and memory at 500 MHz DDR, compared to a core of 200 MHz and memory of 460 MHz on the original GeForce3. The new GeForce3 Titanium 200 and GeForce2 Titanium feature similarly improved performance over their existing counterparts.

Canon today introduced two new digital cameras, the PowerShot S30 and S40, which the company bills as upper-mid-range solutions.

As handheld makers continue to struggle with soft demand, Handspring will reduce the price of its color Visor Prism next week to US$299, a $100 drop. Handspring also launched a new promotion today that offers 20 percent off a number of its popular Springboard expansion modules.

Bare Bones Software has posted BBEdit Lite 6.1.2, a maintenance update that corrects some issues with the software under Mac OS X 10.1 and other bugs.

Compaq yesterday warned that revenue will fall short some US$1 billion for the quarter and that the company expects to post a loss of five to seven cents per share. Analysts had been expecting a profit of about five cents per share. Meanwhile, HP, which is acquiring Compaq, warned yesterday that it may cut more jobs this year, after already cutting nearly 7,000 positions.
