Bare Bones Software has announced BBEdit 6.5, a significant upgrade to its popular text editor. The new version adds countless improvements, including integrated Unix scripting systems that allows Perl, Python, and Unix shell scripts from within BBEdit; syntax coloring for Objective-C; markup support for CSS; improved support for PHP4; new regular expression matching with the PCRE engine; enhancements to file filtering in multi-file searches; and several more.

IntelliInnovations today released Package Tracker 3.5, an upgrade to its software for managing and tracking packages sent via a number of services, including Airborne Express, DHL, FedEx, Purolator, UPS, and USPS. Package Tracker offers rate calculators, tracking, city and zip code lookup, and several other features. New to this version is full support for Mac OS X 10.1, an improved USPS rate calculator, support for American Freightways pro tracking numbers, and more.

Aladdin Systems, which last month announced it would donate US$1 to the American Red Cross from each Web sale of its software titles for 30 days today announced that it donated $21,335. Aladdin is best known for its StuffIt line of file compression products.
