Freeverse releases WingNuts demo

Freeverse Software has released a demo of WingNuts, its upcoming OpenGL-based top-down 2D action game. In WingNuts, available for OS 8/9 and Mac OS X, players take off from an aircraft carrier and hunt Baron von Schtopwatch’s robot planes in 30 levels of arcade action. The game features 360 degrees of movement with side-to-side strafing, OpenGL graphics effects, spectacular particle explosions, and a patriotic soundtrack.

Proxim ups wireless networking to 108Mbps

Proxim has announced its new Harmony Fast 802.11a product line, which doubles the speed of 802.11a networking to 108Mbps (although real-world performance is about one-third of that). The higher speed is only achieved when Harmony Fast products are used in conjunction with each other, otherwise they operate at the standard speed of 54Mbps. The product line will consist of a US$249 PC card and a $695 base station, with a dedicated PCI card also in the works.
